一年生植物物種，因營養的種子而被廣為種植，在全球有各種不同的使用方式。有證據顯示人類在西元前7000年已開始食用鷹嘴豆，由新石器時代的耶利哥得知該物種也是最早被種植的植物之一。在歷史上被用作為藥物，認為可增加精液與乳汁、誘導經期以及治療腎結石。

英文....	Species of annual plant widely grown for its nutritious seeds, used in a variety of ways worldwide. Evidence of humans eating chick-peas dates to 7,000 BCE. They were one of the first plants cultivated, known from Neolithic Jericho. They have historically been used medicinally, thought to increase sperm and milk, to provoke menstruation, and to treat kidney stones.
