多年生的草本物種，原產於東亞，但耕植於其他地區。苧麻是最古老的纖維作物之一，用來取得纖維以及製作其他產品的歷史大約有6000年，在中國與古埃及的木乃伊衣物中均可見其蹤跡。此物種有幾個變種，纖維的顏色由白到綠各不相同。

苧麻(纖維)

英文....	Species of herbaceous perennial native to eastern Asia but cultivated elsewhere. Ramie is one of the oldest fiber crops. It has been used for fabric and other products for around 6,000 years; it is found in mummy cloths in China and ancient Egypt. It exists in several varieties, the fibers varying in color from white to green.
