松樹的種名，是古巴島東部高地原生種。在某些分類法中，與其為近親的伊斯帕尼奧拉松（學名為P. occidentalis），原生於鄰近的伊斯帕尼奧拉島（Hispaniola），則被視為和古巴松同種。
