英文.... | A technique of lacquer decoration employing gold and silver foil inlay where coats of lacquer are applied over the decoration and then polished to expose the design. It was sometimes used with "maki-e". This technique originated in China, where it was known as "p'ing-t'o", and came to Japan in the Nara period (710-794). Since the Heian period (794-1185), the term "kanagai" has also been used to refer to this technique. |
