鴨嘴獸科(目) Platypoda(order)
範圍註 ：
包含針鼴在內，寬足目動物為哺乳類中唯一產卵的動物。此科包含一個現存屬下的一個種，以及一個以上的古老屬。為半水棲的穴居哺乳動物，棲息於塔斯馬尼亞(Tasmania)及澳洲東部的湖邊與溪邊。具棕色皮毛，敏感、可彎曲、似鴨嘴的喙部，雄性的蹼足有毒刺。尾扁，產下的蛋表面堅韌，幼獸從乳腺區的毛孔吸取乳汁。

| 英文.... | With the echidna, Platypoda are the only egg-laying mammals. Family contains one extant genus with one species, and one or more ancient genuses. Semiaquatic, burrowing mammals inhabiting lakes and streams in Tasmania and eastern Australia, having brown fur, a sensitive, pliable bill shaped like that of a duck, webbed feet with venomous spurs in the male, a flattened tail, and laying leathery eggs with young sucking milk from the pores of milk patches. |
