幻龍目 (已滅絕的目) Nothosauroidea(extinct order)
範圍註 ：
為已滅絕的海生爬蟲類，其化石多半在歐洲被發現。牠們與後來的蛇頸龍極為相似，但是被歸類為獨立的一目。幻龍目可追溯至三疊紀時期。特色是上顎與氣道位置接近，氣道則與食道分開。此外，其頭骨長而平坦，上有大型的孔；頜的邊緣則長有許多銳齒。身體纖細，頸、尾及四肢皆長。雖然幻龍為水生動物，但與較為進化的蜥鰭類相比，牠們的四肢較不適於游泳。

| 英文.... | Extinct order of fossil marine reptiles found chiefly in Europe and closely resembling the later plesiosaurs, but classified as a distinct order; dating to the Triassic age. Distinguished by a palate that was closed with the air passages being separated from the food passages, a long and flat skull with large openings, numerous pointed teeth along the margins of the jaws, a slender body, long neck and tail, and long limbs. Although the animal was aquatic, the limbs were less specialized for swimming than they were in more advanced sauropterygians. |
