英文....	Painted wall panels of a distinctive type produced in Tuscany in the 15th and early 16th centuries. Today, they have typically been removed from their original setting and are characterized by their size and shape: Their length is two to three times longer than their height, and they are larger than cassone panels and proportionally higher. The term originally meant "backrest [for a piece of furniture]," and referred to decorative panels positioned in wall panelling at head or shoulder height, above the backrest of a piece of furniture such as a cassone, bed, or or a high-backed bench with a chest below the seat that doubled as a narrow bed (a "lettuccio"). It may also refer to any panel paintings that were set into the wall as an integral part of the wainscoting. They are often distinguished from "cornice pictures," which were installed higher on the wall in a frieze above the wooden cornice molding, forming a separate register between the wooden paneling and the bare wall just below the ceiling. Since this distinction may be lost once the panel has been removed from the wall, the term "spalliere" is often applied to both.
荷蘭語....	Verwijst naar geschilderde muurpanelen, meestal naar een bepaald soort geschilderd paneel dat in de 15de eeuw en de vroege 16de eeuw werd geproduceerd in Toscane. Tegenwoordig zijn ze meestal verwijderd van hun oorspronkelijke locatie en worden ze gekenmerkt door hun grootte en vorm. Hun lengte is twee tot drie keer groter dan hun hoogte en ze zijn groter en naar verhouding hoger dan cassone-panelen. De term betekende oorspronkelijk 'ruggensteun (voor meubelstuk)' en verwees naar decoratieve panelen op hoofd- en schouderhoogte in lambriseringen boven de ruggensteun van een meubelstuk zoals een cassone, bed of een bank met een hoge rug, met een kist onder de zitting die eveneens fungeerde als een smal bed (een 'lettuccio'). Het kan ook verwijzen naar paneelschilderingen die als integraal onderdeel van de beschotten in de muur waren aangebracht. Ze zijn vaak te onderscheiden van 'kroonlijstschilderijen', die hoger in de muur in een fries boven de houten kroonlijstlatten waren aangebracht, waardoor ze een apart register vormden tussen de houten lambrisering en de kale muur direct onder het plafond. Omdat het onderscheid niet meer duidelijk is nadat het paneel is verwijderd, wordt de term 'spalliere' vaak voor beide vormen gebruikt.
西班牙語....	Se refiere a paneles de muro pintados, generalmente un tipo característico de pintura sobre panel producido en la Toscana en el siglo XV y a comienzos del siglo XVI. Hoy en día han sido generalmente removidos de su ubicación original y se caracterizan por su tamaño y forma: Su ancho es dos a tres veces más largo que su altura y son más grandes que los cassoni y proporcionalmente más altos. Originalmente el término significa "respaldo [para una pieza de mueble]" y se refiere a paneles decorativos ubicados en un muro a la altura de la cabeza y los hombros, sobre el respaldo de una pieza de mueble como un cassone, cama o un banco de respaldo alto con un cajón bajo el asiento que se dobla como una cama angosta (un "lettuccio"). También puede referirse a algún panel de pintura que se encontraba sobre un muro como parte integral del revestimiento. Se diferencian frecuentemente de "pintura de cornisa", los cuales eran instalados en la parte alta de un muro, en un friso sobre el molde de la cornisa de madera, formando un registro separado entre los paneles de madera y el muro desnudo bajo el cielo raso.
