主顯節 Epiphany
範圍註 ：
於1月6日舉辦的節日，與耶誕節及復活節並稱基督教三大古老節日。此節日源於東方教會，原本是慶祝耶穌基督的誕生與受洗。自第4世紀開始聖誕節定於12月25日但東方教會仍維持著慶祝耶穌受洗彰顯聖性的傳統。此節日在西元4世紀期間傳至西方，轉變為慶祝東方三賢士來訪聖嬰，特別是以救主基督形象顯露給這些以東方三賢形態出現的外邦人。該節日也紀念耶穌在迦南加利利的第一個神蹟。某些國家在主顯節交換禮物，而非耶誕節。西方教會中，主顯節前夕被稱為第12夜。

| 英文.... | A festival celebrated on January 6 that is one of the three main and oldest festivals of the Christian Church (the other two being Christmas and Easter). The festival originated in the East where it originally celebrated both the birth and baptism of Jesus Christ. Since the 4th century when December 25 became the date of Christmas, the festival in the East has remained the celebration of the manifestation of Christ's divinity at his baptism. The festival spread to the West in the 4th century where it became more associated with visit of the Magi to the infant Christ and specifically the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles in the form of the Magi. The festival also commemorates Christ's first miracle at Cana in Galilee. Gifts are exchanged on Epiphany instead of Christmas in some countries. The eve of Epiphany is called Twelfth Night in the West. |
| 荷蘭語.... | Een feest dat op 6 januari wordt gevierd en tot de drie belangrijkste en oudste feesten van de christelijke kerk behoort (de andere twee zijn Kerstmis en Pasen). Dit feest werd oorspronkelijk in de oosterse christelijke kerken gehouden om de geboorte en doop van Jezus Christus te vieren. Sinds de 4de eeuw, toen 25 december de datum werd waarop Kerstmis werd gevierd, is het in de oosterse kerken het feest van de manifestatie van Christus' goddelijkheid bij zijn doop gebleven. Het verbreidde zich in de 4de eeuw naar het westen, waar het meer werd gekoppeld aan het bezoek van de Drie Wijzen uit het Oosten aan het kindje Jezus en met name de verschijning van Christus aan de niet-joden in de vorm van de Wijzen. Tijdens dit feest wordt ook Christus' eerste wonder tijdens de bruiloft te Kana in Galilea herdacht. In sommige landen is dit de datum waarop men elkaar geschenken geeft, in plaats van Kerstmis. In het westen wordt de avond voor Driekoningen 'driekoningenavond' genoemd. |
