全球定位系統 Global Positioning System
範圍註 ：
最早由美國國防部研發的科技，由24顆衛星構成，持續傳送訊號給全球。配合地球上的接受器，此套系統利用三角定位，能夠迅速且正確地指出地表或天空某一點的經緯度及海拔高度。除了軍方使用外，此套系統原用於地圖製作的空間資料收集上，以及為地球上擁有全球定位接受器的旅人計算地理位置。原名「導航星」（計時和測距導航系統）。

| 英文.... | Refers to the technology originally developed by the U.S. Department of Defense and consisting of 24 satellites that continuously transmit signals globally. In conjunction with receivers on Earth, the system uses triangulation to quickly and accurately determine the latitude, longitude, and altitude of a point on or above the Earth's surface. In addition to military applications, the system is primarily used to gather spatial data needed for making maps and to calculate geographic positions for travelers on Earth who have GPS receivers. The system was originally called "NAVSTAR" (Navigation System with Timing And Ranging). |
| 荷蘭語.... | Verwijst naar de technologie, oorspronkelijk ontwikkeld door het Amerikaanse ministerie van Defensie, die bestaat uit 24 satellieten welke continu wereldwijd signalen doorgeven. In combinatie met ontvangers op aarde kan het systeem op basis van driehoeksmeting zeer snel de lengte- en breedtegraad en de hoogte van een bepaald punt of boven het aardoppervlak bepalen.
