一種書籍裝訂的縫書方式，將散頁或對摺處受損的書頁束，在縫書壓框上縫製於縫線壓繩或布帶上。線穿過書頁靠近裝訂邊緣處並向外繞過，同時每一束書頁的針腳再透過前一束的針腳迴圈而上。與「包邊縫紉」(overcasting)不同，包邊縫紉是將書頁束依序集合在一起，再以串線裝訂（all along）的方式縫製。

包邊縫紉

英文....	Bookbinding sewing method in which loose leaves or gatherings with damaged folds are sewn on to cords or tapes on a sewing frame, the thread passing through the sheets close to and over the binding edges, while at the same time the stitches of one gathering loop up through the stitches of the previous one. Distinct from "overcasting," in which the gatherings are grouped in order and then sewn by the all along method.
荷蘭語....	Te gebruiken voor de steekmethode bij het boekbinden waarbij losse bladen of katernen met beschadigde vellen op touwen of banden worden genaaid op een naaibank, waarbij de draad door de vellen dicht bij en over de bindranden wordt gevoerd, terwijl tegelijkertijd de steken van een bepaalde katern door de steken van de vorige omhoog worden geleid. Te onderscheiden van 'overhandse steek', waarbij de katernen in volgorde worden gegroepeerd en daarna volgens de heeluitmetode worden ingenaaid.
西班牙語....	Método de costura de la encuadernación en el cual las hojas sueltas o los dobleces dañados se cosen a las cuerdas o a las cintas en un marco de costura, el hilo se pasa a través de las hojas, mientras que al mismo tiempo se dan puntadas de lazo.
