可彎曲的木桿，只有極少數會用金屬或塑膠製成；兩端之間繫緊一段馬鬃或其他材質的弦線，用以磨擦弦鳴樂器的琴弦，使其發出聲音。據歷史記載有三種琴弓：均勻彎曲的弓，只有一端彎曲的弓，或兩端彎曲、中段為直的弓；而典型的現代西方琴弓則呈凹型彎曲。

Flexibele houten stokken, slechts zelden gemaakt van metaal of plastic, met tussen de twee uiteinden strak gespannen paardehaar of een ander draadachtig materiaal, dat wordt gebruikt om tegen de snaren van een snaarinstrument strijken zodat deze geluid produceren. Historisch zijn strijkstokken evenwijdig gebogen, gebogen aan één kant, of recht in het midden met beide kanten gebogen; typische moderne westerse strijkstokken hebben een concave boog.
