指形似六弦古提琴的一種弦鳴樂器，柔音中提琴無琴品，拿握方式及琴弓彈奏方式與中提琴相似。柔音中提琴具七根橫跨琴橋頂端的彈奏琴弦，及七根橫越琴橋和指板下方的共鳴弦，在弦軸箱裡匯合成個別的弦軸。
