Such chairs have boldly turned posts and decorative spindles, but unlike Brewster chairs they have spindles only in the back and below the arms, and not below the seat.

Benaming die door verzamelaars wordt gebruikt voor Amerikaanse gedraaide leunstoelen uit de 17e eeuw die zijn gevormd naar een stoel van John Carver die gouverneur was van de kolonie van Massachusetts Bay. Zulke stoelen hebben sterk gedraaide poten en decoratieve spijlen. In tegenstelling tot Brewsterstoelen zitten de spijlen alleen aan de achterkant en onder de armleuningen en niet onder de zitting.
西班牙語....	Término de coleccionista para grandes sillas torneadas americanas del siglo XVII que toman su estilo de una que perteneció a John Carver, Gobernador de Bay Colony de Massachusetts.
