神智學與密宗的日本流派，於西元806年由空海（Kukai）從中國引入日本。主要經書為空海的《秘藏寶鑰》，說明透過真言宗獲得心靈成就，即被視為完成佛教與其他宗教發現的九條心靈之路。據信日本真言宗的密宗真理比史上佛陀的外在教誨更完整。日本真言宗推崇盧舍那佛（Vairocana Buddha, 無量光之佛）、重視曼陀羅及其他雕刻與畫作形式。真言、手印，及儀式也是此教實踐的一部分。如今日本真言宗在日本擁有超過四十個分支，且此教很多方面也已被日本佛教的其他派別採納。

英文....	A Japanese school of esoteric and mystical Buddhism which was brought to Japan from China in 806 by Kukai. A key text of Shingon is Kukai's 'Jewel Key to the Store of Mysteries (Hizouhouyaku)' in which spiritual attainment through Shingon is seen as fulfilling nine other spiritual paths found in Buddhism and other religions. The esoteric truth of Shingon is believed to be more fulfilling than the outward teachings of the historical Buddha. Shingon places importance on the Vairocana Buddha, the Buddha of infinite light, and on mandalas and other forms of sculpture and painting. Mantras, mudras, and rituals are also part of Shingon practice. There are over forty schools of Shingon in Japan today and aspects of Shingon have been adopted by other forms of Japanese Buddhism as well.
荷蘭語....	Een Japanse school van esoterisch en mystiek boeddhisme, die in 806 door Kukai vanuit China naar Japan werd gebracht. Een belangrijk Sjingon-geschrift is Kukai's 'Diamanten sleutel voor de winkel der mysteriën' (Hizoboyaku), waarin spirituele verworvenheid via Sjingon wordt beschouwd als de vervulling van negen andere spirituele wegen uit het boeddhisme en andere religies. Aanhangers geloven dat de esoterische waarheid van Sjingon meer voldoening geeft dan de naar buiten gekeerde leer van de historische boeddha. Sjingon hecht belang aan de Vairocana, de boeddha van het allesomvattende licht, en aan mandala's en andere vormen van beeldhouw- en schilderkunst. Mantra's, mudra's en rituelen zijn andere elementen van Sjingon. Er zijn tegenwoordig meer dan veertig Sjingon-scholen in Japan. 西班牙語....	Una escuela japonesa de budismo esotérico y místico que fue llevado a Japón desde China en 806 por Kukai. Un texto clave de Shingon es "La llave sagrada del depósito de los misterios (Hizoboyaku)" en que la realización espiritual a través de Shingon es vista como la materialización de otros nueve caminos encontrados en el budismo y otras religiones. La verdad esotérica de Shingon es considerada como la más plena, más que la enseñanza externa del Buda histórico. Shingon sitúa la importancia en el Buda Vairocana, el Buda de la luz infinita, la fuente de todo lo que existe. Los mandalas (pinturas simbólicas del mundo) y todas las formas de escultura y pintura adquirieron importancia. Mantras (dichos sagrados), mudras(gestos), y rituales son parte de las practicas Shingon. Hoy en día hay alrededor de 40 escuelas en Japón y muchos elementos shingon han sido adoptados por otras formas budismo japones.
