| 荷蘭語.... | Verwijst naar de stijl in de Spaanse en Spaanse koloniale architectuur en ornamentatie in de 15de en 16de eeuw. De term werd in 1677 voor het eerst gebruikt door Diego Ortiz de Zúñiga om een gevel te beschrijven. Het woord betekent “edelsmid-achtig” en de stijl kenmerkt zich door rijkelijk versierde oppervlakken die gebruikelijk waren in het fijnzinnige werk van de edelsmid.
