紙或織布等以樹脂浸漬之材料，加熱並施以高壓製成非溶性同質片。疊層最早於西元1907年，由里歐．貝克蘭（Leo Baekeland）在帆布上塗上苯酚甲醛製成。塑膠疊層不同於「層壓塑料」，後者為疊加多層塑膠，用樹脂黏合或浸透，之後加熱壓縮而成之薄板。

英文....	Resin-impregnated materials, such as paper or fabric, produced under heat and high pressure to form an insoluble homogeneous piece. Laminates were first made in 1907 by Leo Baekeland when he coated canvas with phenol formaldehyde. Distinguished from "laminated plastic" which is a thin sheet of superimposed layers of plastic bonded or impregnated with resin and compressed under heat.
荷蘭語....	Te gebruiken voor met hars geïmpregneerde materialen zoals papier of stof, die zijn vervaardigd onder hoge temperaturen en druk. Te onderscheiden van 'gelamineerde kunststof' die bestaat uit een dun vel van op elkaar gelegde lagen plastic, gehecht of geïmpregneerd met hars en onder verhitting samengeperst.
西班牙語....	Úsese para materiales impregnados de resina tales como papel o tela producidos bajo calor y alta presión. Distinguir del "plástico laminado", que es una hoja fina de capas superimpuestas de plástico unidas o impregnadas con resina y comprimidos bajo calor.
