居民的主要工作地點為工廠之規模適中的社區，多建自工業革命時期。若居民的主要工作地點為製造紙、鋼、紡織品的工廠，請使用「工業城」；若是由工廠所有者興建、以吸引工人到偏遠地區的定居地，請使用「工廠村」。

| 英文.... | Communities of modest size, built mostly since the Industrial Revolution, in which the primary employment is in factories. When the primary employment is in factories for the manufacture of paper, steel, or textiles, use "mill towns." When settlements are purposely built by factory owners to attract workers to isolated locations, use "factory villages." |
| 荷蘭語.... | Aanduiding voor nederzettingen, voornamelijk gebouwd sinds de Industriële Revolutie, waarin de werkgelegenheid hoofdzakelijk in fabrieken is. Gebruik 'fabriekssteden' wanneer de werkgelegenheid voornamelijk in fabrieken voor de vervaardiging van papier, staal of textiel te vinden is. Gebruik 'fabrieksdorpen' wanneer nederzettingen doelbewust zijn gebouwd door fabriekseigenaren om arbeiders naar geïsoleerd gelegen plaatsen te trekken. |
| 西班牙語.... | Designa asentamientos, construidos en su mayor parte a partir de la Revolución Industrial, en los que el empleo está primariamente en las fábricas. Cuando éste se encuentra primariamente en fábricas para la manufactura de papel, acero o textil, use "asentamiento industrial de productos manufacturados”. Cuando los asentamientos se construyen intencionalmente por los propietarios de las fábricas para atraer trabajadores a emplazamientos aislados, use "urbanización industrial”. |
