類似沒藥（myrrh）的芳香油性樹脂，取自中東原生的小型常綠樹木麥加香脂樹（Commiphora opobalsamum），用於香水和藥品中。聖經裡的創世紀（Genesis）曾提及，作為一種有療癒功效的軟膏。在古希臘和羅馬帝國的藥品、香水中亦受重視。「白亮楊」一詞，曾被誤用於指稱「加拿大香脂」（Canada balsam），後者乃是取自於一種北美洲樹木。

英文....	Fragrant myrrhlike oleoresin obtained from the small evergreen tree, Commiphora opobalsamum, native to the Middle East. Used in perfumes and medicines.
