包含90個灌木與小型喬木物種的屬，原產於亞熱帶非洲與南亞，其中幾個物種的種子為著名飲品的來源，最早在西元15世紀時種植於阿拉伯南部，之後在西元17世紀時傳入印尼。在西元18世紀時，咖啡植物也栽植於中、南美洲。

英文....	Genus containing over 90 species of shrubs and small trees native to subtropical Africa and southern Asia. Seeds of several species are the source of a popular beverage. It was first cultivated in southern Arabia in the 15th century, then spread to Indonesia in the 17th century. By the 18th century, coffee plants were also being grown in Central and South America.
