範圍註：

由隸書演變而成。產生於漢末，盛行於魏晉南北朝，至唐代達到鼎盛，至今仍為日常生活中最普遍使用的書體。書體特色為：結體方正，一筆一畫皆有定式，筆畫清楚易識，兼具實用及美觀性質。

範圍註(ASCDC)：

漢末至魏晉時期的楷書，仍保留隸書筆意，結體略扁；橫畫長而直畫短，增加點、撇、鉤等筆法；南北朝時期，南朝以王羲之、王獻之父子為代表的小楷，字形大小不一、錯落有致，呈現從容優雅的書風，北朝因為地域、人文的差異，呈現樸拙剛強的書風。從北魏後期開始，南北書風開始融合，到了唐代完成了端正、美觀的楷書法度，以虞世南、歐陽詢、褚遂良、顏真卿、柳公權為代表，成為後人的學書典範。又稱今隸，與秦、漢使用的隸書（古隸）相對。

Chinese script that is a simplified stylization of clerical script; the clerical script was transformed into a more fluent and easily written form. Characterized by clear-cut corners and straight strokes of varying thickness, this script emerged by the end of the Han Dynasty, and became popular during the Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern periods. It underwent its most vital period of development and was the most important type of script during the Tang dynasty (618-907), when a successful career in the civil service depended in part on skill as a calligrapher. It remains the standard script in use today and the model for public function and printed type.
