蝗亞目(亞目) Caelifera(suborder)
範圍註 ：
包含約一萬一千種昆蟲的亞目，隸屬兩千個以上的屬及八個總科。其後足上方股節漲大，肌肉強健，足部因而適於跳躍。雄性能夠藉由摩擦前翅，或是後股節上的齒狀脊部，摩擦閉合前翅上的突起翅脈，以發出嗡嗡聲。直翅亞目昆蟲的顏色為綠色、橄欖色或是棕色。見於熱帶森林低地、半乾旱地區及草原地帶。
