英文....Refers to illusionistic effects on two- or three-dimensional art works or architecture, in which the appearance of marble is simulated by painting. For example, wooden or plaster columns or paneling may be painted to imitate the color and graining of marble, which would be a more costly and desirable material. It is distinguished from "scagliola," in which the effect of marbling is achieved by mixing pigment directly with the wet plaster, and then applying the plaster to the surface.
荷蘭語....Verwijst naar de illusie-effecten op twee- of driedimensionale kunstwerken of in de architectuur waarin het uiterlijk van marmer wordt gesimuleerd met schilderwerk. Zo kunnen pilaren of panelen van hout of pleister worden beschilderd om de kleur en de nerf te imiteren van marmer, dat een kostbaarder en begerenswaardiger materiaal zou zijn. Te onderscheiden van 'scagliola', waarin het marmereffect wordt bereikt door pigment direct door het natte cement te mengen en de pleister vervolgens op het oppervlak aan te brengen.
西班牙語....Se refiere al efecto ilusionista en obras de arte bidimensionales o tridimensionales o en arquitectura, en los cuales la apariencia del mármol es simulada mediante pintura. Por ejemplo columnas o paneles de madera o yeso pueden ser pintadas para imitar el color y la veta del grano, que sería un material más costoso y deseable. Se distingue de "scagliola" en el cual el efecto marmolado es alcanzado por la mezcla de pigmentos directamente con el yeso húmedo, y luego aplicando el yeso a la superficie.
