英文....	Refers to an early stage in the process of turning flax or similar plants into yarn in which the material is steeped in order to soften and separate the fibrous core of the plant from the outer layer. Basic methods include dew retting and water retting.
荷蘭語....	Verwijst naar een vroege fase in de verwerking van vlas of soortgelijke planten tot vezels, waarbij het materiaal wordt geweekt om het zacht te maken en de vezelige plantkern van de buitenste laag te scheiden. Basismethoden voor het roten zijn het dauwroten en waterroten.
