皮影戲是一種平面人偶投影的演出形式。演出者在空白半透明屏幕或薄紙後方操縱，並打上光線讓屏幕上形成投影，以供觀眾觀看投影人偶所演出的故事。有關皮影戲的起源，各學派眾說紛紜，埃及或東亞為可能性最高的起源地。

Shadow theater is a type of puppetry involving the use of flat shadow puppets manipulated behind a blank translucent screen or sheet onto which light shines so that the shadows of the puppets are cast on it. The audience views the shadows of the puppets as they act out the story. There is difference in scholarly opinion as to its origins, but either Egypt or eastern Asia is a likely place.
荷蘭語....	Schaduwtheater is een vorm van poppenspel waarbij platte schaduwpoppen worden bewogen tegen een wit doorschijnend scherm of laken waarop licht schijnt, zodat de schaduwen van de poppen er op vallen. Het publiek ziet de schaduwen van de poppen terwijl er een verhaal wordt verbeeld. De geleerden zijn het niet eens over de oorsprong, maar Egypte en Oost-Azië zijn het waarschijnlijkst.
西班牙語....	El treatro de sombras es un tipo de titeretada que involucra el uso de muñecos de sombras planos que se manipulan detrás de una pantalla o sábana blanca translúcida y sobre la cual se proyecta luz que permite que las sombras de los muñecos se proyecte. El público ve las sombras de los muñecos mientras actúan una historia. Los especialistas difieren en opinion respecto a sus orígenes, pero pareciera ser tanto Egipto como Asia oriental.
