指在平面上描繪的圖像，圖像代表是天球，亦即從地球表面所見、座落於穹蒼空中的恆星與星座。平面天體圖於約於西元1515年出現於歐洲，但簡單的星宿圖自古埃及時期即已出現。「平面天體圖」可說是「天文圖」較狹隘的概念，因前者專指早期在平面上繪製的天空，所描繪的概念是從球體投影在平面上；而「天文圖」則可能指歷史範圍更廣的圖，且不必然僅指概念上存在於球體上或球體中的天空圖。至於將天空實際呈現在球體上，而不是投影在平面上者，稱為「天球儀」。

英文....	Refers to images depicted on a flat surface, but representing the celestial sphere, which is the stars and constellations as they are located on the apparent hollow sphere of the sky as seen from the surface of the Earth. They appeared in Europe around 1515, though simple depictions of constellations had been known since the time of ancient Egypt. They are a narrower concept to "astronomical charts" because "planispheres" are specifically early depictions of the heavens on a flat surface, where the concept being depicted is of a sphere projected on a flat plane; "astronomical charts" may refer to charts from a much wider historical range, and do not necessarily refer only to charts where the heavens were conceptually considered to exist on or in a sphere. For representations of the heavens actually depicted on a sphere, as opposed to being projected on a flat plane, use "celestial globes."
荷蘭語....	Verwijst naar afbeeldingen die weliswaar op een plat oppervlak zijn afgebeeld maar het uitspansel voorstellen oftewel de sterren en sterrenstelsels binnen een ogenschijnlijk holle bolvorm die de hemel voorstelt zoals die vanaf het aardoppervlak zichtbaar is. Ze verschenen voor het eerst in Europa rond 1515, hoewel eenvoudige voorstellingen van de sterrenstelsels al uit het oude Egypte bekend waren. Planisferen vormen een specifieker begrip dan 'astronomische kaarten', aangezien 'planisferen' in specifieke zin verwijzen naar vroege afbeeldingen van de hemel op een plat oppervlak, waarbij het afgebeelde begrip de projectie van een bol op een plat oppervlak betreft; 'astronomische kaarten' kan verwijzen naar kaarten binnen een veel breder historisch kader, en dus niet uitsluitend naar kaarten waarbij de 'hemel' als concept zich op of in een bolvorm zou bevinden. Se refiere a imágenes presentadas en una superficie plana, pero representando a la esfera celeste, es decir las estrellas y constelaciones y su ubicación en la aparente esfera hueca del cielo tal como es vista desde la superficie de la Tierra. Aparecieron en Europa alrededor de 1515, aunque representaciones sencillas de estas constelaciones se conocían desde los tiempos del antiguo Egipto. Constituyen un concepto más limitado que los "mapas astronómicos" porque los "planisferios" son específicamente representaciones de cielo sobre una superficie plana, donde el concepto representado is una esfera proyectada sobre un plano; "mapa astronómico" puede referirse a mapas en un ámbito histórico más amplio y no necesariamente se refiere sólo a mapas donde los cielos eran consideradas conceptualmente su existencia sobre o dentro de una esfera. Para representaciones de cielos reales representados sobre una esfera, en oposición a su proyección sobre una superficie plana, use "globo celeste".
