The motif often serves as a framing architectural device, generally combined with lintels of free-standing gateways supported by carved pillars set on molded bases.

Motivos de animales antiguos de origen indio usados en todo el arte asiático en el que destaca una criatura compuesta que combina las formas del cocodrilo y el elefante con una cola rizada representada como espirales de verdor. El motivo sirve a menudo como un marco arquitectónico, generalmente combinado con dinteles de entradas autosustentables sostenidos por pilares tallados colocados sobre bases amoldadas.
