字母緊排 kerning
範圍註 ：
將字體之間的距離，調整得比一般或自動配置時近。為了視覺效果，通常會縮減不適宜的字間空隙。若是使用金屬字體，則字體本身會經過裁切，使其間距更為緊密。在照相排版中，則是些微增加退格的距離。

| 英文.... | The setting of type characters closer together than would normally or automatically be done; for visual effect, usually to close an unsightly gap. With metal type, the body of the type is cut for a closer fit; in photocomposition, minute increments of backspacing are used. |
| 荷蘭語.... | Handeling waarbij drukletters dichter bij elkaar worden gezet dan gebruikelijk is of automatisch wordt gedaan. Dit wordt gedaan voor het visuele effect, meestal om lelijke lege plekken op te vullen. Bij metalen letters wordt het breedste deel van de letter op maat bijgesneden; bij fotocompositie wordt de spatiëring een heel klein beetje aangepast. |
