西方教堂在復活節期間所使用的大型蠟燭。復活蠟燭的使用是一項非常古老的傳統，大約可追溯至西元第四世紀。在復活節守夜禮儀中，會先在復活蠟燭劃上十字、希臘第一字母（alpha）和最後一個字母（omega），以及年份數字後，再以首次賜福的聖火將其點燃。守夜禮過後，復活蠟燭會在禮拜儀式中持續燃燒，直至基督升天日誦讀福音書後才將其熄滅。燃燒復活蠟燭乃象徵基督復活，並將黑暗與死亡的力量驅逐。

英文....	Large candles used in Western churches during Paschaltide. The tradition of paschal candles is a very old one, probably dating to the fourth century. A paschal candle is first lit with newly blessed fire during the Easter vigil service after being marked with the sign of the cross, an alpha and an omega, and the year. After this service the candle is lit during liturgical functions until Ascension Day when it is extinguished after the gospel reading. The lit paschal candle symbolizes the powers of darkness and death being driven away by the Resurrection of Christ.
荷蘭語....	Grote kaarsen die in de westerse kerken worden gebruikt gedurende de paastijd. De traditie van paaskaarsen is al zeer oud en gaat vermoedelijk terug tot de 4de eeuw. Een paaskaars wordt voor het eerst aangestoken tijdens de paaswake, met het nieuwe gezegende vuur, nadat op de kaars het kruissymbool, een alfa en omega en het jaartal zijn aangebracht. Na afloop van deze dienst wordt de kaars tijdens liturgische diensten aangestoken, tot aan Hemelvaartsdag. Op die dag wordt de kaars dan na de schriftlezing gedoofd. De aangestoken paaskaars symboliseert de verdrijving van de machten van het duister en de dood door de herrijzenis van Christus.
