容納為數不多之零售商店的獨立或系列建築物，內部並有互相連接的走道，一般只有一層樓或較低的樓層數，通常位於郊區戶外，一般為面對共用停車場的單排建築。至於較為大型繁複，可容納多個零售商店，一般有屋頂覆蓋，並有室內走道的建築物，則稱之為「購物商場」。
