各種形式的平行投影，特別是指三空間軸中至少有一空間軸與投影面成斜角的平行投影。此詞彙所指稱的投影方式，是假設有一平面圖係按比例繪製，將此圖傾斜45度角之後便可看到此圖的第三個面向，該面向通常是此圖的高度且完全按比例顯示，傾斜之後看到的圖即是所謂的軸測投影。此投影系統可以同時顯示平面圖及體積，完全按照原來比例，不會因為一點透視的投射線交會而造成變形。

英文....	Refers to all forms of parallel projection, particularly where at least one of the three spatial axes is inclined to the plane of projection or picture surface. It is often used to refer to projections depicted as if a plan were drawn to scale, and the plan is then tilted at a 45 degree angle to provide a third dimension, typically height, which is drawn to the same scale as the plan. This system for projection depicts both the plan and volume simultaneously and with a consistent measurement, without the distortion caused by the converging lines of one-point perspective.
荷蘭語....	Verwijst naar alle vormen van parallelle projectie, voornamelijk wanneer ten minste een van de drie ruimtelijke assen wordt gebogen naar het projectievlak of het beeldoppervlak. De term wordt vaak gebruikt om te verwijzen naar projecties die zijn afgebeeld alsof een plattegrond op schaal is getekend, waarna de plattegrond 45 graden wordt gekanteld om een derde dimensie te verkrijgen, meestal in de hoogte en getekend op dezelfde schaal als de plattegrond. Deze projectiemethode beeldt de plattegrond en het volume gelijktijdig af volgens een consistente schaal, zonder de vervorming die ontstaat door de samenkomende lijnen in een éénpuntsperspectief.
