Generally refers to the legal and social union of a man and woman as husband and wife although in recent time the term has occasionally been applied to the union of a gay couple as well. For the act or ceremony of marriage, use "weddings." The term is sometimes used to refer to a close or intimate union in a general sense, not limited to people.

Dutch....	Verwijst doorgaans naar de wettelijke en sociale verbintenis van een man en vrouw als echtgenoten, hoewel de term tegenwoordig ook wordt gebruikt voor de verbintenis van een homoseksueel stel. Gebruik 'bruiloften' voor de huwelijksvoltrekking of -ceremonie. De term wordt soms gebruikt om in algemene zin te verwijzen naar een nauwe of intieme relatie, die niet beperkt is tot mensen.
Spanish....	Generalmente se refiere a la unión legal y social de un hombre y una mujer como marido y esposa, aunque en tiempos recientes el término ha sido ocasionalmente aplicado también a la unión de parejas homosexuales. Para el acto o ceremonia de matrimonio, use "boda”. El término es algunas veces usado para referirse a una unión cercana o íntima en un sentido general, no limitada a gente.
Chinese (traditional)....	通常是指男人和女人透過合法及社會上的結合而成為丈夫與妻子；但是近來此詞彙偶爾也會用於描述同性戀伴侶之間的結合。若是指達成婚姻的行為或儀式，則稱為「婚禮」。有時「婚姻」會用來泛指密切或親密的結合，並不侷限於人與人之間的結合。
