指經由製作電影與動畫所表現的藝術與形式，製作過程以膠捲或錄影帶為媒體，將一系列圖像快速而連續地呈現至觀眾眼中，而造成自然動作的錯覺。本詞彙也可指稱由數位媒體所創作的同類型藝術。此藝術形式典型的特色為呈現戲劇性、引發情感以及運用複雜精密的方式將其他表演與視覺藝術元素融入，並結合數種科技與技術。本藝術在整個二十世紀急速增長，不論在普及性與影響力上均大幅領先其他藝術形式。若指稱在膠捲上製作的實際工作，則稱之為「電影(視覺作品)」。

英文....	The art and form of expression of filmmaking and motion pictures, which are produced in the media of film or videotape, on which a series of pictures are presented to the eye in such rapid succession as to give the illusion of natural movement. It may also refer to similar art created in digital media. The art form is typically characterized by conveying drama, evoking emotion, and utilizing a complex array of contributions from other performing and visual arts, combined with numerous technical skills. It proliferated enormously throughout the 20th century and is held to be unequaled among other art forms in popularity and influence. For the actual works created on film, use "motion pictures (visual works)."
荷蘭語....	Verwijst naar de kunst en expressievorm van het maken van films en bewegende beelden, die worden geproduceerd op film of videoband en waarop een reeks beelden in zo'n snel tempo worden gepresenteerd, dat de visuele illusie van natuurlijke beweging ontstaat. Het kan ook verwijzen naar vergelijkbare kunst die wordt geproduceerd op digitale media. De kunstvorm wordt meestal gekenmerkt door de presentatie van dramatische gebeurtenissen die emoties oproepen, waarbij op grote schaal gebruik wordt gemaakt van andere uitvoerende en visuele kunsten, in combinatie met een groot aantal technische mogelijkheden. Se refiere al arte y forma de expresión de realización cinematográfica y de películas, las que son producidas según las técnicas de los medios de comunicación como cine o vídeo, en donde una serie de imágenes se presentan a la vista en rápida sucesión que dan la ilusión de movimiento natural. También puede referirse a un arte similar realizado con algún medio de comunicación digital. Este tipo de arte está típicamente caracterizado por reunir drama, evocar emociones y utilizar un complejo despliegue de otras arte interpretativas y visuales, combinados con una variedad de habilidades técnicas. Durante el siglo XX proliferó enormemente y frente a otras formas artísticas, se mantuvo sin comparación en popularidad e influencia. Para trabajos actuales realizados en este medio, use "película cinematográfica (artefacto de información)".
