一種凹版印刷術，在金屬印版撒上樹脂（瀝青、松香等）粉末，接著加熱印版以融化樹脂，冷卻後浸入酸性溶液中。酸會輕度侵蝕未撒到樹脂的區域，最後形成帶有細小凹點的印版。細點蝕刻法是由讓‧巴提斯特‧洛普林斯(Jean-Baptiste LePrince)於1760年代所發明，一直流行到1830年代晚期。

英文....	An intaglio etching technique in which a metal plate is sprinkled with a finely-powdered resin (asphaltum, rosin, etc.); the plate is heated to melt the resin, then cooled, and placed in an acid bath. The acid lightly etches areas not covered with the resin. The results in a plate with fine pockmarks. The process was invented in the 1760s by J.B. LePrince. Aquatints were popular until the late 1830s.
荷蘭語....	Een drukprocédé waarbij hars of een andere substantie op de plaat wordt aangebracht om een poreuze ondergrond te creëren, waarna de plaat wordt verhit en geëtst, zodat er een schakering van tonen ontstaat; wordt vaak gecombineerd met lijnwerk.
西班牙語....	Proceso de impresión en el que se aplica resina u otra sustancia a una placa para formar una base porosa. La placa es luego calentada y grabada, produciendo un rango de valores tonales. Combinado a menudo con el trabajo en líneas.
