供閱讀的舒適椅子，尤指西元十八世紀時，具裝有襯墊、覆以皮革的馬鞍形椅座扶手椅，可調式平臺自椅背處突出以供置放書籍之用；其設計旨在讓使用者能以一般方式就坐，或面向後跨坐。若是指稱並非安裝在椅子上的可調節式閱讀平臺，則使用「閱覽桌」。若是指稱面朝後，供觀看牌局的椅子，則使用「觀牌椅」。

Comfortable chairs for reading, particularly 18th-century armchairs with padded, leather-covered, saddle-shaped seats and an adjustable platform to hold a book projecting from the back; designed so that the occupant may either sit on it in a normal way or straddle the seat facing the back. For adjustable reading platforms that are not attached to chairs, use "reading desks." For backward-facing chairs intended for viewing card games, use "voyeuses."
荷蘭語....	Luie stoelen om in te lezen. Soms wordt deze term gebruikt ter aanduiding van Engelse leunstoelen uit de 18e eeuw die een zadelvormige, leren zitting hebben met opvulling en een verstelbare verhoging die aan de rugleuning vastzit als boekenstandaard. Ze zijn zo ontworpen dat de zittende persoon op de normale manier plaats kan nemen of schrijlings met het gezicht naar de rugleuning gekeerd.
