範圍註：

最初於1861年，由理查‧格林博士(Dr. Richard J. Gatling)所開發出來的機關槍，有一串可轉動的槍管，平均分布於中央槍柄周圍，由彈匣來供應子彈，依靠機械裝置將子彈裝入槍膛並且發射。早期的槍枝機型是以手動搖柄來產生動力，後期的機型則以電力或瓦斯來產生動力，因此最高可達每分鐘三千發的發射速率。

Gatling in 1861, featuring a cluster of revolving barrels equally spaced around a central shaft, a magazine to feed them, and an action by which the cartridges were chambered and fired. Early models were powered by a hand crank, later ones by electricity or gas, attaining a firing rate of up to 3000 rounds per minute.

Los primeros modelos se accionaban manualmente mediante una manivela, modelos posteriores por electricidad o gas, alcanzando marcas de fuego sobre los 3000 disparos por minuto.
