指稱於歐洲、中東與非洲出現的特殊工具發展時期與文化，最早可追溯至考古紀元元年前五萬年。此一時期以法國西南部木斯提耶（Le Moustier）的岩穴為名。此一文化在傳統上與歐洲的尼安德塔（Neanderthals）及其在非洲的同時期文化有所關連。此時，各色人種紛紛擴散至新的地區並且進行環境適應，其文化特色包括石片工具的多樣化與專門化、純熟的選擇性狩獵，以及具有意識的墓葬行為。此一文化的發展與克拉克頓時期有些重疊。

英文....	Refers to the period and long-lived culture of distinctive tool development in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa from as early as 50,000 Before Present and associated with the Neanderthals. The period is named after the rock shelters at Le Moustier in southwestern France. It is characterized by the expansion of peoples into new regions and adaptations to new environments, including diversification and specialization of flake tools, proficient and selective hunting, and intentional burial. The culture has some overlap with the Clactonian.
荷蘭語....	Verwijst naar de periode en cultuur waarin specifieke gereedschappen tot ontwikkeling komen in Europa, het Midden-Oosten en Afrika, vanaf 50.000 jaar geleden. De periode is genoemd naar de schuilgrotten bij Le Moustier in het zuidwesten van Frankrijk. De cultuur wordt traditioneel in verband gebracht met Neanderthalers in Europa en hun tijdgenoten in Afrika. Het kenmerkt zich door de expansie van volkeren naar nieuwe gebieden en aanpassingen aan nieuwe omgevingen, zoals diversificatie en specialisatie van stenen werktuigen, vakkundig en selectief jagen en doelbewust begraven. De cultuur heeft enige overlap met het Clactoniën.
西班牙語....	Se refiere al período y cultura de desarrollo de herramienta distintivo en Europa, el Medio Oriente, y África desde tiempos tan antiguos como el 50.000 antes del presente. El período lleva el nombre de los refugios de piedra en Le Moustier al sudoeste de Francia. La cultura es tradicionalmente asociada con Neanderthals en Europa y sus contemporáneos en África. Se caracteriza por la expansión de pueblos en las nuevas regiones y la adaptación a nuevos ambientes, incluyendo la diversificación y especialización de herramientas laminadas, caza hábil y selectiva, y entierro intencional. La cultura se superpone algo con el Clactoniense.
